3Wire RS2WLAN is an industrial-grade WiFi / LAN IoT gateway designed to connect serial and Ethernet-based devices such as PLCs, meters and sensors to cloud-based IoT platforms. It enables SCADA and BMS software to remotely access field devices over WiFi or LAN, while also allowing active polling of device data and transmission to IoT platforms through MQTT or HTTP POST. Many sites need to collect data from serial devices such as Modbus RTU meters, PLCs and sensors, but wired Ethernet access may not always be practical. RS2WLAN bridges this gap by supporting both Ethernet and WiFi access, allowing field data to be connected to SCADA, BMS, EMS, cloud platforms or IoT applications. RS2WLAN supports cloud publishing, remote access and multiple operating modes for industrial data collection and system integration. Transmit collected device data to MQTT brokers, IoT cloud platforms and central dashboards. Supports HTTP-based data transmission for platform integration where MQTT is not used. DTL-645 and Modbus RTU parameters can be polled and converted into JSON format for easier IoT platform ingestion. Supports paired communication and bridge mode for remote serial access over WiFi / LAN networks. Enables Modbus TCP masters to access serial slave devices and supports serial masters accessing Modbus TCP devices. Supports TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP, UDP Multicast and virtual serial port operation. Connect Modbus RTU power meters, sensors and plant equipment to EMS, IoTWatt 4.0 or cloud analytics platforms. Allow BMS and SCADA systems to access serial and Ethernet devices remotely over WiFi or LAN. Connect PLCs, HMIs, inverters and automation equipment to IP-based systems and IoT applications. Poll meter data through Modbus RTU or DTL-645 and transmit the data to central monitoring systems. Use RS2WLAN across multiple sites to send field data to MQTT brokers, IoT cloud systems or dashboards. Convert device data into IoT-ready payloads for cloud monitoring, analytics, alerting and reporting. Links serial and Ethernet devices to IEEE 802.11b/g networks with access over Ethernet and WiFi. Operates in STA Mode to connect to a wireless router, or AP Mode for direct WiFi device connection. Supports secure wireless data access using WEP, WPA and WPA2. Supports fast roaming for quick automatic switching between access points. Provides 1500V optical isolation on RS485 / RS422 data lines and 2kV surge protection on the Ethernet port. Heartbeat and Keep Alive functions help maintain reliable WiFi / LAN communication. RS2WLAN is suitable for mixed field device networks involving serial devices, Ethernet devices and WiFi / LAN access.
