3Wire RS2LAN is an industrial-grade serial device server with integrated Modbus gateway functionality. It enables RS232, RS485 and RS422 serial devices to be accessed over TCP/IP or UDP/IP networks, while supporting Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP conversion. RS2LAN is suitable for PLCs, digital power meters, alarm sensors, PTZ camera control, automation equipment and other industrial serial devices. Many industrial sites still depend on reliable serial devices. The challenge is connecting these existing RS232, RS485 or RS422 devices into modern Ethernet-based systems without replacing them. RS2LAN bridges this gap by converting serial communication into Ethernet communication for SCADA, BMS, EMS, AMR systems, data loggers, remote PCs and IoT gateways. Connect PLCs, HMIs, relays and serial controllers to Ethernet-based industrial networks. Connect digital power meters and Modbus RTU devices to IP-based metering systems. Supports remote host access, up to 30 TCP clients in TCP Server mode, and up to 7 destination IP addresses in TCP Client mode. Supports UDP and UDP multicast communication for flexible industrial network data transmission. Allows Modbus TCP masters to communicate with Modbus RTU serial devices through RS485, RS422 or RS232. Supports communication between serial master devices and Modbus TCP devices such as PLCs, HMIs, inverters and DPMs. Supports paired serial-to-Ethernet bridging and remote serial device connection across Ethernet or Internet networks. Virtual port operation is supported using 3Wire ComPort Emulator software for remote serial access. 1500V optical isolation on RS485 / RS422 data lines and 2kV surge protection on the Ethernet port. Supports RS232, RS485 and RS422 using terminal block and DB9 connection options. Supports up to 256 slave devices connected on the RS485 / RS422 bus where the serial network design allows. Supports automatic discovery and configuration using 3Wire Device Management software or web browser configuration. Heartbeat and Keep Alive functions help maintain reliable network connections. Power, Link and Active LED indicators provide quick status visibility during commissioning and operation. Use RS2LAN when you need to connect RS232, RS485 or RS422 equipment to an Ethernet network without replacing the device. Use RS2LAN as a Modbus TCP gateway to connect Modbus RTU meters, PLCs and sensors to IP-based systems. Use direct TCP/IP or Virtual COM to access serial equipment from a host computer or remote software system.
